Transfer gossip: Chelsea again linked with Barkley and speculation over Terry’s future continues

A round-up of the latest transfer speculation involving Chelsea…

Chelsea have again been linked with a move for Ross Barkley, this time by the Daily Mail, while speculation continues over the future of John Terry.

Manchester United and Manchester City are also said to be chasing England international Barkley, who was linked with a big-money move to Stamford Bridge last year.

The Mail say Everton will open contract talks with him this summer in an attempt to see off the apparent interest in him.

Meanwhile, The Sun say Terry is unhappy with Chelsea and believes he should have been offered a new contract.

Terry has been at Chelsea since the age of 14

The skipper, whose contract expires at the end of the season, recently declared that he was not being offered a new deal and would be leaving in the summer.

Chelsea have insisted the door has not been closed on a new contract for Terry, but that the club wanted to wait until a new manager was in place.

The Sun quotes a ‘Blues insider’ as saying: “John does not agree that they have to wait for a new manager before deciding whether he should get another deal.

“He has to make plans and there is no indication when the permanent manager will be appointed.

“He is not doing anything wrong by revealing he has no new offer. He is perfectly entitled to say so.”
