Gossip: Express link Blues with Vermaelen and Sun say Everton want Begovic

A round-up of the latest transfer speculation involving Chelsea…

Chelsea have again been linked with Barcelona’s former Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen, this time by The Express.

Liverpool are also said to be interested in the centre-back, who was recently touted by Spanish transfer-gossip website Fichajes.net as potential replacement for Chelsea captain John Terry.

Everton are planning an £8m move for Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, according to The Sun.

The Bosnian is said to be frustrated at his lack of first-team chances at Stamford Bridge, where Thibaut Courtois is first-choice keeper.

Begovic has been frozen out since Thibaut Courtois’ return from injury

Everton are said to be lining Begovic up as replacement for veteran keeper Tim Howard.

Meanwhile, the website Football Insider has claimed that Courtois will look to leave Chelsea, prompting the Daily Star to suggest that apparent fears over the Belgian’s future could lead to the Blues pursuing AC Milan’s 16-year-old keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Metro have picked up on a report on the TMW website which claimed Chelsea have opened talks over potential deal to sign striker Edinson Cavani from Paris St-Germain.

The Express continue to claim Chelsea are interested in signing former Arsenal and Manchester United striker Robin van Persie from Fenerbahce.

And reports in France continue to link Chelsea’s Eden Hazard with a possible big-money move to PSG this summer.
