Transfer gossip: Conte tipped to ditch trio, Chelsea again linked with Davies
A round-up of the latest Chelsea transfer speculation as Ben Davies of Tottenham is again linked with the Blues…
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is set to phase out Gary Cahill and Branislav Ivanovic following the 3-0 defeat at Arsenal, the Daily Mail say.
The newspaper adds that David Luiz, who only recently returned from Paris St-Germain, could also be ousted as a first-choice defender because Conte wants to sign two centre-backs.
It is also claimed that Conte wants to sign a full-back in a bid to strengthen his defence during the January transfer window.
Several players have been touted as long-term replacements for Blues captain John Terry – who is currently out injured – in recent months.
The Mail again suggest that Middlesbrough’s Ben Gibson and Michael Keane of Burnley are on Conte’s radar.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have again been linked with Tottenham left-back Ben Davies, this time by ESPN.
The Sun on Sunday recently claimed that Conte is keen on the Wales international, partly because Davies can also play on the left of a back three.
And ESPN say they have been told by sources close to Chelsea that the club are considering making a move for Davies, 23, when the transfer window reopens in January.

I am totally in favor of swift changes to Chelsea defence. It’s long overdue, this should have happened prior to commencement of the league. These players don’t have an idea how Chelsea’s loses our (we the fans) psychic!! Why approach your games in that lackadaisical fashion? We are strong, take for instance, the likes of Ivanovic in defence, you must prove to be the last man to beat!! If Da Costa has to remain in team full time, he must also have little room for error in scoring, otherwise, goal poachers like Victor Moses and Batsuahi should be called upon to deliver the goals. Please manager Conte, we dont want to revisit the same old approach to our games. If we are not careful, the current form of the team wouldn’t be able to beat any of the top Four teams! Mark my words, if nothing serious is done to revamp the team!! Also give chance the your new sign-up players!! We need action now!!!

The fascinating thing about the Davies rumour is just where did the imagined fee of 20 million come from? Why not 30, 40 or 100 million? This so much smells like a planted story by Chelsea, and at the end of the day will not happen because of the acrimony between the clubs.
