Fans react on Twitter to Begovic’s move to Chelsea from Stoke
The arrival of Asmir Begovic at Chelsea has certainly got fans talking on Twitter.
The Bosnia international, who has signed a four-year contract, was welcomed with open arms by Blues supporters who believe, following the departure of Petr Cech, they now have two world-class keepers again.
Begovic is a coup. Too good to be back-up but if he’s committed for 18 months+ I’m very happy. Keeps some pressure on Thibaut too #cfc

Begovic to Chelsea. Top signing for Blues as N.2 but a very good thing for Courtois if he wants to be the best in Europe. #CFC #Begovic

Very happy to see Begovic has signed for #cfc . A brilliant back up option to courtois. He is no Petr Cech but we can more than rely on him.

Gonna miss Cech but Asmir Begovic is quality as well! Great signing by Chelsea! #CFC #ChelseaFC

Can people stop calling #CFC buying Begovic a master stroke…….it isn’t! It’s a good GK who is willing to sit on our bench

Stoke fans were certainly disappointed to see him leave after a four-year spell in which he made 172 appearances.
gutted Begovic has gone 😢 #SCFC

@stokecity @asmir1 sad to see him go! Top keeper. Thanks for everything Asmir

But many supporters of other clubs questioned the move, Begovic’s motives and how much first-team football he might get given Thibaut Courtois’ form last season.
Wrong move from Asmir Begovic. Courtois is too good. He’ll have a great time on that bench next to Cuadrado, Falcao and Remy #scfc

Why would Begovic at the peak of his career want to go and be second choice? Must value money more than personal career. #scfc #cfc

Congratulations to Asmir Begovic who has just announced his retirement from football by moving to Chelsea #scfc #cfc

No position is permanent in a football team. If you are good enough, you start. With Petr in charge, AM fans must have told Courtois this time last year that he was coming to Chelsea to warm the bench too. Now that he is in charge, he must continue to work hard. Else, Arsenal or any other team would come bidding for him too.
