QPR chairman Fernandes hails travelling fans after win at Ipswich

Tony Fernandes took to Twitter to praise QPR’s players and fans after the 3-1 win at Ipswich.

Niko Kranjcar put Rangers ahead before Gary O’Neil and substitute Armand Traore netted their first goals for the club.

And chairman Fernandes tweeted: “Keep the faith. Long way to go. But Portman Road not a great place to go to so to win in that way was great. Kudos to Harry and all players.

Fernandes praised QPR fans.

“And thank you to all the away fans for making the journey. You sounded awesome on the radio. Thanks.”

Chief executive Philip Beard wrote: “Really good performance and result today. Makes the drive back to London feel much quicker.”

Rangers responded well after losing Joey Barton six minutes before half-time.

The midfielder picked up thigh problem and will be assessed in the next 48 hours.

Barton tweeted: “Great team performance. We knew we had to bounce back after being disappointing last week. Tremendous strength of character shown.

“Ipswich 9 unbeaten before today so we knew it would be a tough test. Delighted for @Gazoneil on opening his account for us.”

He added: “Hopefully my thigh is not as bad tomorrow as it feels now. #Fingerscrossed.”

  • Started as usuall dominating. Then as usual got a bit complacent and let Ipswich start to play. Good that championship teams miss a lot otherwise might have let in 2. Great goal and them Ipswich had to push and opened up for us. Great we committed some players forward as this has been problem all season. I worry our midfield players just stay too deep as they don't like or can't get back quickly if we lose possession. But a sign we are getting good if we critiscse a winning team. Bit like Arsenal fans!

  • A lesson from two games in the last month:
QPR scored 3 goals yesterday playing with 1 striker and no wingers.
QPR scored 0 goals playing with 2 strikers and 2 wingers vs Blackburn.

Lesson is that playing good attacking football and scoring goals is not just about picking all your strikers and all your wingers and telling them to go for it. There is more to it than that.

Well played to the team and also to the travelling Rs who made it sound like a home game.

  • Great win and to see everyone pulling together on and off the field, let's keep it going. Makes life feel so much better

  • QPR now need to be a lot more adventurous to win.
So pleased at least with this game that now seems to be happening.
A couple of new players may be needed but our existing players can do the job.
Come on you R's let's start to turn on the style.

  • Flying home to Ireland in a few hours to deal with a family loss. Will be wearing the Caterham Green away shirt with pride!!

Thank you Tony, and QPR, for making a terrible day a little bit better.

  • Nice of Tony to thank the fans, what a chairman we have and what a manager we have.Walk tall and be strong for the team as they are doing it for us.Well done all players and the staff.
