Fans on Twitter react to Rangers rejecting bid for Phillips
West London Sport revealed on Sunday that QPR had rejected a £7m bid from West Brom for Matty Phillips.
Coming soon after Rangers also rejected a £12m bid from Leicester for striker Charlie Austin, many Rangers fans on Twitter were pleased their club were digging their heels in and asking for £10m for Phillips, who impressed during the second half of last season.
@WestLondonSport KEEP HIM PLEASE !!!

@WestLondonSport @OfficialQPRFAN go for 10 million. He is still very young and loads of potential. — ben darocha (@salouelpaso) July 5, 2015
Fair play to the club for turning down £5m for Phillips and £12m for austin. If you want our players pay the asking price. #QPR

No doubt Austin will sell for 15mill, Phillips maybe at 10, if not he’ll stay. Respect to QPR & Les F for being strong in the market #QPR — SDLewis17 (@SDLewis17) July 5, 2015
Loosing @chazaustin9 on the cheap is one thing, but now @phillips_matty is another.. Ruddy hell! @tonyfernandes don’t sell easy!! #QPR

West Brom fans were split on the issue – some felt Phillips would be a great addition, but others baulked at even the £7m offer their club had made.
I think Matt Phillips would be a great signing #wba — Leo Watkins (@leowatkins) July 6, 2015

£7m a lot of money for Phillips don’t we think? Is he worth it? #wba — Dave Worley (@daveworley) July 6, 2015
I’d rather keep the money in the bank than pay QPRs asking price for Austin & Phillips #wba #overpriced — Daniel Wood (@dantheman1612) July 5, 2015
Fans of other Premier League clubs weighed in, with supporters of Newcastle and Everton – monitoring the Austin situation – questioning Rangers’ demands.
#QPR want £7m for Matty Phillips. Apart from that wonder strike at Palace can anyone tell me why he’s worth anywhere near that? — Skeems (@Skeems1) July 5, 2015
QPR have got a nerve like, thought wanting £15m for Austin was a bit pricey never mind demanding £10m for Phillips! — Adam Smith (@smithy434) July 5, 2015
QPR are mad turning down £12m for Charlie Austin & £7m for Matt Phillips! Fair valuation in my eyes! — Adam T (@TurpoEFC) July 5, 2015
QPR want 10m for Matt Phillips for an extra 2m we could have Shaqiri @Everton just let that sink in ……. — Colm Hudson (@IrishEverton) July 6, 2015

Why arent rangers trying to keep CharlieAustin? Surely we could offer him a new deal with a clause if we dont get promoted this season? He is an honest, hardworking man he might go for it?
Worth a try anyway??
Regarding the valuations of both Charlie and Matty, they are perfectly legitimate.
If peiple took the time to look at the stats they would see the value. In fact, if Redknapp had played Matty in the first half of the season we may still be in the Prem and his price would be much higher than the 10m quoted now.

Bit much for a championship winger

We don’t need to sell so if we can keep Charlie ,Mat and co and they get us back up then it was money well saved, Charlie walks away for nowt but it’s a price worth paying , well done Tony , show the spirit that most of the team failed to last season.

Notice how it’s always arrogant Newcastle supporters who weigh in with tw@ttish comments when they actually have no clue whatsoever? It takes 5 minutes to check out the stats of a player via premierleague.com but they’re too stupid even to do that. What did MP do apart from score a wondergoal? lol…you couldn’t make it up.
Austin – I’d have taken £12m personally, but considering he finished the season 4th highest goal scorer, and looking at the ridiculous price tags attached to players like Sterling, how is £15m remotely overpriced?? It’s just sad, bitter, unintelligent utterly illogical rubbish. Which is what I’ve now come to expect from Newcastle fans ever since we signed Remy in fact.

Read his stats people . Matt Phillips was one of the highest assists in the prem not bad for someone who only played half a season . 10 million is cheap for someone who can cross a ball and has blistering pace . Do your homework . 10million or sod off. We don’t have to sell
