Fans on Twitter react to Tottenham being linked with QPR striker Austin
QPR and Tottenham fans on Twitter and have been reacting to speculation that the striker could be on his way to White Hart Lane.
Spurs have not shown an interest in the Rangers striker but are one of several clubs to have been linked with him.
Newcastle have been tipped to buy Austin, with a host of reports claiming the Magpies and other clubs are battling to sign him, but so far only Leicester have made an approach this summer.
And now it has been claimed that Tottenham are willing to meet the £15m asking price for the 26-year-old. Some Spurs fans were unimpressed….
Any Spurs fan who wants us to sign Charlie Austin needs their head examined #nothanks #notgoodenough #fact #THFC #COYS — Peter (@_petey_pan) August 5, 2015
Big fan of Charlie Austin he did well being in a very poor team, but is he really worth £15M?! #THFC #COYS — Craig Silver (@CraigSilverReal) August 6, 2015
I dont want Austin. I want Berahino. #THFC #COYS — Andrew Wright (@Andrew_Wright91) August 5, 2015
However others saw the potential in Austin, who scored 18 goals in the Premier League last season:
Charlie Austin is no Jurgen or Teddy but he scored a load of goals in the PL for a terrible terrible team last season. #coys #thfc — Buzzer (@MarkBuzzBurrows) August 5, 2015
Austin for me is a no brainer. Proven goal scorer in the Premier Lge. Very little risk on him. Get him! #thfc — Sam Marks (@Quilo) August 6, 2015
So not surprisingly spurs are yet to sign a striker. The season only a few days away we should give QPR what they want for Austin #coys — BlueSpur86 (@BlueSpur86) August 6, 2015
QPR supporters, meanwhile, had their say on the speculation and the Spurs’ fans views…
If Charlie Austin goes to Spurs I will think fair play, he deserves to go to a big club and I think they’d do him well. #QPR #Spurs #Austin

Proven goalscorer kane and austin would combine well I think. 18 goals in a team that finished bottom and he missed 2 penaties could have had 20 hit post twice. Soldado couldn’t hit a barn door with a banjo

Austin and Kane … Sutton and Shearer, as good as England’s had in years. Technically Austin’s far from a complete premier league footballer, but you can’t doubt the attributes he has, and one of those is finishing and an eye for goal. His movement improved hugely against better defenders and with Zamora as a tutor, and we (QPR) were a disgrace of a team last season. Can’t see him staying with us, so good luck at any top ten prem side basically. Tottenham should land in that top ten bracket again.

How can people say they don’t want Austin, yet want Berahino in the next sentence… I’d take Austin over Berahino all day long. We need a proven goalscorer, which is what he is? I’m sure 99% would have chosen Soldado over him if asked a couple of seasons ago.. Let’s be realistic for a change

I for one would be very happy if spurs can sign austin bcos he is epl proven, far better than ade and soldado combine and he’s an upgrade on njie whom posh is eager to bring in whom i believe will not do well in epl.
