Blues and United linked with late Shaw bid, Cesar tipped to leave

Chelsea are ready to launch a pre-deadline bid for left-back Luke Shaw despite Southampton insisting he is not for sale, The Express claim.

Manchester United boss David Moyes is also tipped to table an offer for the teenager this week rather than wait until the summer.

Southampton have made it clear they have no interest in selling Shaw, who signed a five-year contract at St Mary’s last summer.

Chelsea are also being linked with Marseille’s Florian Thauvin.

It comes after one of the Blues’ scouts watched Marseille play Monaco on Sunday.

And ESPN report that former Chelsea star Franck Leboeuf told French television that the 21-year-old midfielder will not have impressed.

Leboeuf is quoted as saying: “Thauvin didn’t exist for an hour.”

Meanwhile, Brazilian radio stations have reported that goalkeeper Julio Cesar looks set to return to the country to join Gremio.

Earlier, Italian media reported the fact that Sampdoria turned down the chance to sign Cesar from QPR, having previously tipped him to join the Genoa-based club.

And in one of the most bizarre stories of the transfer window, Italian media say AC Milan are in talks with Fulham to sign Adel Taarabt – even though he is on loan from QPR, who have had no contact with the Serie A club.

The Italian press have also claimed that Rangers’ talks with Inter Milan’s Ishak Belfodil have broken down.
