Fans on Twitter react to Caulker’s loan move to Southampton
QPR and Southampton fans on Twitter have been reacting to Steven Caulker’s move to St Mary’s on a season-long loan.
Some Rangers fans – unimpressed by Caulker’s displays for their club last season – weren’t sorry to see him go.
👌🏻 great business. Go get a decent commanding CB now from lower leagues https://t.co/C0vaz0YC8A

I don’t think Steven Caulker is that good. I won’t be losing any sleep about him leaving. — Greg Sangwine (@GSangwine) July 30, 2015
The Saints paid a £1.5m loan fee in order to take Caulker to the south coast. But some Rangers fans still felt uneasy about the deal.
I’ll take that bring in a good defender for that much now a days https://t.co/bGJPS7DH1K

@WestLondonSport very strange if it’s a loan deal. Hasn’t impressed since his arrival but still need a decent replacement & quickly — Brad woodbridge (@bwoodbridge33) July 29, 2015
Caulker has suffered back-to-back relegations, having left Cardiff to join the R’s, who went down last season.
Some fans – including supporters of his former club Tottenham – argued that Caulker can consider himself fortunate to be back in the top flight and needs to get his career going again.
Surprised Stephen Caulker has joined Southampton on a season long loan. He has gone backwards since he left us. Very lucky to get this break

After how he performed last season Caulker can count himself very lucky that he’s managed to get a move back to the prem. #QPR

Steve Caulker needs a Premiership season to not end in relegation and get his career back on track. Top defender a few years ago — Matt Sadler (@MattWShore) July 30, 2015
Steven Caulker has been relegated about 20 times. Dunno what clubs see in him!?

Steven Caulker: one season with Cardiff – relegated; one season with QPR – relegated. Does that mean Southampton are going down this season? — Tom Hardy (@tomhardy92) July 30, 2015
However, others judged Caulker more favourably and argued that Southampton have made an astute signing ahead of the new campaign.
Caulker will do well for #saintsfc. Both Cardiff & QPR didn’t score enough or defend as a team. We will do both & Koeman will improve him.

Caulker is a great signing for Saints. Has impressed in woeful defences. Surprised it’s not permanent. Price will surely rise @joesheppard27 — Sam Joiner (@samjoiner) July 30, 2015
Shame that #sfc signed Steven Caulker from QPR, would’ve been a good signing for City #lcfc what with Wes being missing for the start

did you know that (a) Caulker is only 23 and (B) he has never played alongside Jose Fonte Baby! Magic is about to happen…#saintsfc — Thomas Levcovich (@TLevcovich) July 30, 2015

Back Southampton to go down this year. A move to Southampton on loan may look good but he has had a pretty poor season at QPR and looks like nobody was prepared to buy. . If QPR and Cardiff didn’t want him, its not looking very good for him. Expect him to sit on the bench for most of the season. Southampton are going to use him as a replacement to help with the Europa cup in mind. Probably his last chance to impress.
