Speculation over Stones release clause and Villa are linked with Button

A round-up of the latest transfer speculation involving Chelsea and Brentford…

Everton will discuss a new contract with John Stones but the defender wants to open the door to a possible move by demanding a release clause, according to reports.

Chelsea tried in vain to sign Stones, 21, during the summer transfer window and have been tipped to make another attempt to take him to Stamford Bridge.

The Daily Mail say Stones will tell Everton he wants any new deal to allow him to leave for £38m if a bid for him is made, while the Daily Mirror put the figure at £37m.

The Mail say Stones will refuse to sign a new contract if Everton do not agree to such a clause.

Meanwhile, Brentford’s David Button is one of a number of goalkeepers being monitored by Aston Villa, the Birmingham Mail reports.

Villa scout Tony Coton is keeping an eye on several keepers and Button, 26, is said to be under consideration as a possible future signing.

Oldham’s Joel Coleman, Southend’s Dan Bentley and Jordan Pickford of Sunderland are also reported to be on Villa’s radar.

QPR made offers for Bentley last month and have this week been linked with him again.

It has been claimed that Rangers could make another bid for the 22-year-old when the transfer window re-opens in January.

However, they have no plans to do so following the signing of Alex Smithies, who was signed from Huddersfield before the summer window closed.
