Transfer gossip: Stones speculation, Arsenal tipped to target Whites youngster

A round-up of the latest transfer speculation involving the area’s clubs…

With the transfer window now closed, there is already speculation over what might happen when it reopens in the summer.

Much of it will inevitably be about Everton’s England defender John Stones, who was previously targeted by Chelsea.

The Times say Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United are among the clubs keen to sign Stones, 21, but suggest he would rather stay in the north-west.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid, who were tipped to re-sign Diego Costa from Chelsea, will now look to do so in the summer, according to The Sun.

Costa has returned to form since Guus Hiddink’s appointment as boss

The Daily Star claim Chinese club Jiangsu Suning, which recently signed Ramires from the Blues, are interested in Radamel Falcao, who has failed to make an impact since his loan move to Chelsea from Monaco.

And Arsenal are likely to make a summer bid for Fulham youngster Ryan Sessegnon, the Daily Telegraph say.

The Gunners reportedly tried to sign Sessegnon, 16, ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline. Fulham are said to be determined to keep him.

  • We should do everything within our reach to buy John Stones from Everton in the summer. He is young and energetic, he also has a good control of the ball. If Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, Valencia and Jones come back to full fitness there'll be no need to buy too many players at the back except John Stones.
In the middle of the pack we need two fast young guys, then attack will just be one seasoned striker to give competition to Rooney and co.
