Speculation continues over the future of QPR striker Austin

A round-up of the latest transfer speculation involving QPR…

Speculation continues over the future of Charlie Austin, with the Sunday Mirror claiming that Crystal Palace are confident they can agree a deal to sign the QPR striker.

It comes after Rangers director of football Les Ferdinand recently confirmed that only two clubs – Leicester and Palace – have made an approach for Austin despite numerous reports of interest from various clubs.

Palace expressed an interest but do not want to pay the £15m asking price and backed away, but the Mirror claim the Eagles are still looking to sign him.

The newspaper also say another club consistently reported to be keen on Austin, Newcastle, have cooled their interest, and that German sides Borussia Monchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen are now looking at the 26-year-old.

Newcastle are still interested, along with Bournemouth, according to the Mail on Sunday, which says that Palace could re-enter the apparent race to sign Austin.

The south London club are said to be looking to offload forward Dwight Gayle for around £8m in the coming days and make the money available to manager Alan Pardew.
