Palace linked with Zouma and speculation continues over Austin
A round-up of the latest transfer speculation involving Chelsea and QPR…
Chelsea, who were supposedly keen on Charlie Austin, have ended their interest in the QPR striker, the Evening Standard says.
It is claimed that Chelsea have withdrawn from the apparent race to sign Austin after Blues boss Jose Mourinho insisted he wants Loic Remy to stay at Stamford Bridge.
There continues to be much speculation over Austin’s future – the Standard again suggests that West Ham want him and Aston Villa continue to be linked because of their deal to sell Christian Benteke to Liverpool.
Neither the Hammers nor Villa have so far indicated that they are interested in Austin.
Meanwhile, Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma has been linked with Crystal Palace, the Croydon Advertiser reports.
Chelsea could offer winger Victor Moses to Everton in an attempt to sign centre-back John Stones, the Daily Mail claims.
The Blues have already had a bid of £20m for Stones rejected by Everton and are expected increase that to £26m.
But Everton are said to want closer to £30m, so Chelsea may offer a player as a sweetener with Moses – who is also wanted by Stoke – the most likely option, the Mail believes.
The Daily Express claims Chelsea have a second centre-back target in Roma’s Alessio Romagnoli, who the newspaper also links with Arsenal.
It claims Mohamed Salah, who is wanted by the Italian club, could be used as a makeweight in any Chelsea offer for Romagnoli.
There is still speculation over Chelsea’s apparent interest in Barcelona winger Pedro.
Mourinho said over the weekend he would only sign another winger if one of the five in his squad left, and the Independent claims a deal for Pedro would be on should Juan Cuadrado leave Stamford Bridge.
But the Daily Star, picking up on reports in Spain, suggests Manchester United will lodge a £20m bid for the Spain international, in the hope iof beating Chelsea, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain to his signature.
Filipe Luis continues to be linked with a move away from Chelsea, with reports in Italy making Inter Milan the most likely destination.
But Chelsea they fail to offload the Brazil international, the Independent claims it will hold up a Chelsea move for Augsburg left-back Abdul Baba Rahman.
