Gossip: Blues linked with teenager, Blades tipped to try again for Burn

A round-up of the latest transfer speculation involving the area’s clubs….

Chelsea are reportedly one of a number of Premier League clubs monitoring Cheltenham Town teenager Luke Thomas.

The Gloucestershire Echo believe Southampton have already lodged five-figure offer for the 16-year-old, and claim Tottenham, Arsenal, Bristol City, Derby County and Portuguese giants Benfica are all keeping an eye on the winger.

Chelsea are also being linked with a January move for strikers Robin van Persie and Saido Berahino.

The Daily Express, quoting reports in Turkey, claim former Arsenal and Manchester United forward Van Persie is being targeted by the Blues after struggling to settle at Fenerbahce.

Van Persie has been touted for a return to England

And West Brom’s Berahino is also a target, according to the Daily Telegraph. The newspaper suggests the England Under-21 striker has been lined up as replacement for Radamel Falcao, whose loan deal could be cut short in January.

Another report in Turkey, picked up by the Daily Star, claims Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho may want to be reunited with Wesley Sneijder.

The 31-year-old Dutchman is currently with Galatasaray and played under Mourinho at Inter Milan.

The Daily Express, citing reports in Italy, suggests Chelsea are closing in on the signing of another teenage midfielder, Amadou Diawara. The 18-year-old only made his Serie A debut for Bologna this season.

Meanwhile, Sheffield United are again being tipped to make another attempt to sign Fulham defender Dan Burn.

The Sheffield Star believes the Blades will look to revive their loan move for the 23-year-old, having seen a proposed deal collapse on transfer deadline day.
