Chelsea are considering offering John Mikel Obi a new contract, according to the Sunday Mirror.
The Nigerian midfielder, who has been at Stamford Bridge for a decade, has re-established himself as a first-team regular since Guus Hiddink took over.
And it is claimed that the club’s hierarchy are now thinking of giving him new deal. His current contract expires next year.
Chelsea have again been linked with Schalke’s Leroy Sane, this time by the Sun on Sunday, which also includes interviews with Oscar and former England boss Sven Goran Eriksson.
Blues star Oscar praises Hiddink and suggests the players want him to stay on as boss, while Eriksson says Chelsea skipper John Terry is wanted by number of Chinese clubs.
Eriksson, currently in charge at Shanghai SIPG said: “There is a lot of talk about John Terry in China.”
The Swede added: “Chinese teams are looking for these big players. Great teams need great leaders.
“They do not come much better than John Terry. With his skill, his experience, he would be great in China, I have no doubt about that.”
Meanwhile, speculation continues over who will take over as Chelsea manager at the end of the season.
The Sunday People say Chelsea have approached representatives of Diego Simeone and that the Atletico Madrid boss is learning English.
And The Sunday Times say Manchester City’s Manuel Pellegrini is in contention along with ex-Chile coach Jorge Sampaoli and Italians Massimiliano Allegri and Antonio Conte.
