Bees among clubs eyeing non-League striker Assombalonga, says manager

Brentford are among a number of clubs interested in Waltham Abbey striker Christian Assombalonga, according to the non-League club’s manager Paul Joynes.

Brighton and Millwall are also said to be eyeing the 25-year-old brother of Nottingham Forest forward Britt Assombalonga, who has scored 29 goals for Abbey this season.

The player has been linked with a move to Dagenham & Redbridge, but Joynes has claimed that other clubs are keen.

Joynes told the Hertfordshire Mercury: “There’s been an awful lot of clubs looking at him; Brentford, Millwall, Stevenage, Hartlepool and some Conference clubs, with Dagenham looking like being one of them.

“Brighton as well have been looking – you name them and they’ve been looking at him at one time or another.

“Obviously at some games he’d have been top drawer and got some interest, as some of those clubs have come back several times to look again.”
