Transfer gossip: Speculation over Van Dijk and Oxlade-Chamberlain ahead of deadline
Some of the recent transfer speculation involving Chelsea…
The Sun on Sunday say Virgil van Dijk has urged Southampton to let him leave this week.
The Netherlands defender is said to have been involved in a series of rows with the club’s hierarchy and is desperate to move.
Chelsea have been linked with Van Dijk along with Liverpool and Arsenal. All three clubs are reported to be keen to sign him for £60m.
Sunday Mirror tip Blues to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain
Arsenal will sell Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Chelsea, the Sunday Mirror say.
Chelsea are said to be willing to pay £40m for the England international, whose contract at Arsenal is due to expire next year.
Liverpool have also been linked with Oxlade-Chamberlain and the Sunday Mirror claim Arsenal do not want to sell to them because they see Chelsea as title challengers but the Merseysiders as a direct competitor in the race for a top-four place.
The Sun on Sunday, on the other hand, suggest he could be heading to Liverpool.
Speculation over Vardy
There are various reports claiming that Everton are rivalling Chelsea for the signing of Jamie Vardy.
It has been claimed that Chelsea are interested in signing the Leicester striker.
Telegraph claim Chelsea plan Barkley talks
The Daily Telegraph say Chelsea plan to hold talks with Everton over Ross Barkley following Sunday’s game between the two clubs at Stamford Bridge.
The newspaper say Chelsea will try to pip Tottenham to the signing of the England international.
The story is partly based on the fact that Everton owner Farhad Moshiri attended Everton’s game at the Bridge last season and that he and chairman Bill Kenwright both live in London.
The Telegraph say that if the two men attend Sunday’s game, Chelsea will “have the perfect opportunity to try to open negotiations with Everton and make life difficult for Tottenham in their bid to land Barkley.”
Spurs are favourites to sign him but Chelsea “are not giving up without a fight,” the Telegraph say.
It is claimed that Tottenham are willing to pay £20m plus £8m in add-ons despite the fact that Barkley is expected to be out for three months with a hamstring injury.
Sun say Juve are chasing Cahill
Juventus want Gary Cahill, The Sun claim.
The Turin club are reported to be searching for a centre-back following the departure of Leonardo Bonucci to AC Milan.
The Sun say Juve have contacted Chelsea about Cahill and have been alerted by boss Antonio Conte apparently being unsure how big a role his captain will play this season.
Willian linked with Barcelona
The Express and subsequently other newspapers have picked up on a report claiming that Chelsea are in talks to sell Willian to Barcelona.
It comes after France Football claimed that Barca have targeted Willian after Liverpool refused to sell Philippe Coutinho.
Talks have taken place ahead of a possible move for the Blues star, it is claimed.
The Express add that it is unlikely Chelsea will agree to sell Willian given that Conte already has concerns about the squad’s lack of depth.
Redknapp reportedly wants Boga
Birmingham City have been linked with Chelsea youngster Jeremine Boga.
Goal.com claim the Championship club have enquired about taking Boga on loan and that Chelsea could let him go if the champions are able to secure their own transfer targets.
Birmingham’s former QPR boss Harry Redknapp supposedly believes he has a chance of landing Boga, who started for Chelsea against Burnley on the opening day of the season.

Conte should walk out on Chelsea. What nonsense are the board and people in charge of transfers doing? They are so myopic, sell without even being sure of bringing replacements in … in d nutshell, Chelsea would never be competitive with their unstrategic policy & lack of stability as well as buying into the idea of Conte. That man is the best manager Chelsea would ever get. If they loose him, and not listen to his ideas they are fucking going to relegate.

the soviets are done spending; that is why they underbid, pick unrealistic, time wasting targets to end up with a cheap, useless last minute signing… unless they can offload costa for the right price, (don’t blame them, this also being conte’s Achilles heel) or keep selling – willian even hazard, god forbid. Chelsea FC is a primarily self-sustaining, young talent loaning and selling for small profit franchise, (which the first team is more of a front of, the loans take priority until the time is up). conte comes with the ability to build a world class superteam; not until he self -finances, so the squad was ridiculously decimated by 14 odd sales, if costa/michy/willian get sold, there might be new signings (7 days left), if not, (behold – drinkwater!!!), greater miracle is expected from conte. the Tuchel crap is to shut conte up, but in my opinion he should have long walked.

Thomas Joseph well spoken. you hit the hammer tight on the nail. why should Chelsea sell promising young players and start going after 30/31 years old who if they happened to be in Chelsea players would not be give two or three years contract. it’s ridiculous. Breaking news! Chelsea to sell William. Unbelievable we are short of numbers and keep selling the few left. I will suggest we sell all the players we have that will make Chelsea one of the richest if not the richest club in the world

Cfc should have never sold R.Bertrand in the first place! Getting him back should be a priority! Stellar player then, and still is! Van Djik would be a waste of funds, we have a capable CB in A.Christensen ready to take up from where JT left of (JT, himself co-signed Christensen as the next Academy..)So that there kills the narrative of Van Djik. We have the colossus Zouma on a season loan, to get game time! Bottom line we don’t need a new CB! Drinkwater IS NOT A CHELSEA CALIBRE PLAYER PERIOD! Ox would be a good buy, he’d add more power, pace and clinical finishing to our roster! He wants to leave Arsenal so for us that’s a win win situation. If we could get Chalobah back….. exercise his buy back clause, we would have solved CDM! B.Traore was a gem that we shouldn’t have discarded with such….Then start targeting 30yr Olds with exorbitant price tags with absolutely NO RESALE Value after a season or two, barring they can go through that duration injury free! Makes no sense! Get the electric B.Traore back and make dollars. Through his assists, goals & overall input…we would be a serious attacking threat! Competing on all fronts! I mean just that: Champions League, Premier League, F.A Cup…..
