Fernando Torres given a month to save Chelsea career – report
Fernando Torres has been given a month to save his Chelsea career, the Daily Mirror suggest.
It is claimed that unless the striker shows signs that he is on the way back to his best, interim manager Rafael Benitez will be prepared to tell owner Roman Abramovich he fears he is facing a lost cause.
Metalist Kharkiv star Taison has been touted as a January replacement for Torres, who has scored only four league goals this season.
The Mirror also report that Fifa agent Francois Gallardo has told a Spanish radio station that Pep Guardiola – widely believed to be Abramovich’s first-choice appointment as manager – has a preliminary agreement to take over at Manchester City.
Meanwhile, Loic Remy is likely to reject any attempts by QPR to lure him to Loftus Road, the Daily Mail say.
The Marseille striker, said to be a target for new Rangers boss Harry Redknapp, apparently only wants to leave France for a side vying to be in the Champions League.
The Independent mention Redknapp’s reported interest in signing Joe Cole on loan from Liverpool.
