Fernandes praises QPR players for their effort against Man Utd

Tony Fernandes felt QPR’s players showed no lack of effort in their 4-0 defeat against Manchester United.

Rangers, without injured midfielders Joey Barton and Jordon Mutch, were completely outclassed in one-sided match at Old Trafford.

And chairman Fernandes tweeted: “Thought we showed to much respect for United today. A weakedned midfield today. But time will tell. Stay Hungary stay focused.

“We hit a Hungary United at old Trafford. We will come back. I’m sure Harry saw enough today. To get better.

“Thought players put in lots of effort. On today’s performance many many would have faced same result. Stay confident.”

Meanwhile, former Rangers star David Bardsley felt Barton was sorely missed.

Bardsley tweeted: “Big blue heart needs painting on the arm of each players white shirt and get out and wear it.Expectations, win or loose, miss JB attitude.”

  • Pace. We lacked pace, which is at least one thing that Manure have. If we had any kind of pace, we could've chased them around a bit, but we couldn't even do that, so they ran circles. Manure didn't play particularly great, we just didn't chase them down, so they ran away and made space, and the passes got through because we were too slow to close everything down.
Desperately need to change the way we play. Need Adel, need Vargas, who looked quick and sharp and willing, which is what we need. Shame about Mutch and JB, they will be strong once we can keep them fit and playing all the time to dictate things in the middle. Harry needs to sort out what he really wants to do with the back line. I really think we should play with a sweeper. Somebody needs to sit in front of the back 4 and help the ball through up the middle and hold it.

  • Hi harry just won't to know why you are not playing taarabt he is a good player we need him in our team

  • Whilst I agree QPR were looking a potentially good team in the making.
The defense is fine and will improve.
The direction / penetration /transition from midfield to attack was missing last year is still non existent.
Where are the wingers running too and why there is little purpose.
One person in the box surrounded by defenders needs good fortune to succeed .
QPR MUST PUT PRESSURE ON THE OPPOSITION.
QPR must score goals, leave Ferninand to sort out the defense and push up.
You need a good left back, Hill will not be any good on away games.
He is good in the middle but very average out wide.
Work on getting goals not stopping teams from playing.
If you score a goal or two you can look at frustrating the opposition.
When teams realize you are not going to pose any threat all resources are employed in one area , attack.
School boy stuff really ,Harry and Co pay heed.
Caution will not win a Premier League game.
    GVS.

  • The QPR set up was woeful. It was far too deep and allowed United time and space on the ball in dangerous areas. Austin might just as well have stayed in the dressing room, which was evident from the start.
No team can hope to defend successfully for 90 minutes against such class and QPR should have the courage to take something to the opposition, as Swansea and Sunderland did.
On top of that - the players were sluggish.
