Chelsea ‘will not offer John Terry a new contract’
Chelsea plan to release John Terry at the end of next season, according to The People.
It is claimed the club will not offer Terry a new contract when his current deal expires in 2014 and that the decision is because of concerns over his fitness as well the controversy caused by his ban for racially abusing QPR’s Anton Ferdinand.
The same paper say Frank Lampard could leave as soon as January, that former Blues boss Jose Mourinho wants to take Ashley Cole to Real Madrid, and that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is plotting a £25m raid for Barcelona’s Sergio Busquets.
Mourinho, it is suggested, would like to sign Cole when the transfer window opens after losing left-back Marcelo to injury but may have to wait until the England man’s contract expires next summer.
Lampard, meanwhile, is again linked with a move to LA Galaxy.
The Sunday Mirror suggest Chelsea are among a number of Premier League clubs keeping tabs on Schalke’s Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
The Sun on Sunday have an interview with former Chelsea man Salomon Kalou, who talks about Abramovich’s dominance at Stamford Bridge.
And The People say Fulham want Blackburn keeper Paul Robinson and that QPR’s Hogan Ephraim is a target for Crystal Palace and Charlton.
