Chelsea v Spurs player ratings

Chelsea thrashed 10-man Tottenham to move seven points clear at the top of the Premier League. Here’s how we rated the players in their 4-0 victory. 

Petr Cech: 7
His fine stop to deny Sandro in the first half was an important one, with Spurs on the rise, and Cech gave another solid all-round performance.

Branislav Ivanovic: 7
The Serbian made sure Gylfi Sigurdsson was rarely a threat, even when Tottenham were on top for a period in the first half.

Gary Cahill: 7
Cahill and John Terry once again put in a fine shift together at centre-back but only once they got to grips with Spurs’ formation.

John Terry: 7
Terry was assured and strong – and continued to show what England are missing at the back.

Cesar Azpilicueta: 7
Saw plenty of the ball going forward and combined well with Eden Hazard up against Kyle Walker and Kyle Naughton on the left-hand side.

Ramires: 6
Improved in the second-half after a flat opening 45 minutes, with boss Jose Mourinho’s tactical switch freeing up space in midfield for the Brazilian to be more effective.

Nemanja Matic: 7
Also benefited from the tactical change and seems to be thriving in Chelsea’s midfield at the moment.

Frank Lampard: 6
The England international looked off the boil in the first half, with Spurs youngster Nabil Bentaleb getting the better of him in midfield, and he was brought off for Oscar at half-time.

Andre Schurrle: 6
Surprisingly, last week’s hat-trick hero against Fulham had a relatively disappointing game before he was swapped for Willian just after the hour.

Samuel Eto’o: 8
The Cameroonian was a constant threat up front and deserved his goal, which was a typically forthright finish from the experienced striker.

Eden Hazard: 8
In fine form at the moment and was excellent again, creating much for his team in the second half. He will have nightmares about the open goal he missed just five minutes into the game, however.

Oscar: 7
Helped sway the match in Chelsea’s favour when he replaced Lampard at half-time, becoming a nuisance between the lines. The Brazilian is hard to defend against for any team.

Willian: 6
Willian was the least involved of all Chelsea’s substitutes.

Demba Ba: 7
Capitalised on Tottenham’s implosion to bag himself two goals and remind Mourinho of his undoubted ability in front of goal.

Spurs did well in the first half and their formation meant their opponents took time to get into their stride. But the second half was a different affair and some of Tottenham’s errors were comical.
