Chelsea secured three much-needed points against Norwich at Stamford Bridge. Here’s how we rated the players in their 1-0 win.
Asmir Begovic: 7
Produced a vital late save to deny Robbie Brady and had other good moments. But on other occasions he was hesitant when coming for the ball, underlining the fact that Chelsea have sorely missed Thibaut Courtois.
Branislav Ivanovic: 5
Has had far worse games this season but was again unconvincing. Defensively he worked hard but never looked comfortable and his passing was sloppy at times.
Kurt Zouma: 7
Played well at the centre of the Blues defence, making numerous important clearances. And he was unlucky not to score when his flick from Willian’s free-kick struck the bar.
John Terry: 7
The skipper also had a good game – and also went close with a skilful flick from a set-piece by Willian. Terry’s effort flashed wide of the near post.
Kenedy: 7
Deployed at left-back but asked to perform virtually as winger. He found the going tough at times but continually looked to attack and has obvious potential.
Nemanja Matic: 7
Still not at his very best, but Matic showed signs of his best form in a decent display by the Serbian. He saw plenty of the ball and asserted himself in midfield, particularly in the second half.
Cesc Fabregas: 7
Missed a decent early chance after being set up by Eden Hazard, but atoned with a number of fine passes and his quick thinking led to him finding Diego Costa for the winner.
Pedro: 6
Created an early chance for Costa and was a threat at times in the second half, but he struggled to make an impact for large parts of the game.
Willian: 8
An excellent, typically hardworking and relentless display from the Brazilian, who caused Norwich problems with his direct running and his set-piece delivery. But he was fortunate not to concede a first-half penalty when he bundled Brady over in the box.
Eden Hazard: 7
Created an early opportunity for Fabregas and sent in a number of teasing crosses which Chelsea failed to capitalise on, much to the frustration of the home fans.
Diego Costa: 7
Wasn’t having the best of games, having missed two good chances, before he scored the all-important winner with a cool finish – his fourth goal of the season and first in seven matches.
