Chelsea v Nordsjaelland ratings

Chelsea went out of the Champions League despite a resounding win at Stamford Bridge. Here’s how we rated the Blues players in their 6-1 hammering of the Danish champions.

Petr Cech: 7
Made some decent saves, not least when keeping out Nicolai Stokholm’s first-half penalty to prevent Chelsea falling behind.

Branislav Ivanovic: 6
Got forward as Chelsea attacked in numbers but was caused the odd problem by the impressive Joshua John, especially in the early stages.

David Luiz: 7
Was good throughout and showed impressive leadership qualities to take the penalty and put Chelsea ahead after team-mate Eden Hazard had missed from the spot.

Gary Cahill: 7
Might have done better for Nordsjaelland’s goal but found the net at the other end with a cracking header from Juan Mata’s free-kick.

Ashley Cole: 7
Had an easy night. Able to attack when he liked and was hardly tested defensively.

Oriol Romeu: 6
After a couple of difficult games was able to coast as Chelsea easily controlled the midfield. Kept it simple.

Ramires: 6
Didn’t join the party in an attacking sense, but did his job in midfield to good effect.

Victor Moses: 8
Showed again that he is a force to be reckoned with, even among Chelsea’s other attacking stars. Caused the visiting defence problems and produced a great pass for Fernando Torres’ first goal.

Juan Mata: 8
In a league of his own as usual, taking players on and pinging around passes at will. A fine delivery for Cahill’s header and took his goal well. Far too hot for Nordsjaelland to handle.

Eden Hazard: 7
Atoned for his poor penalty with a sharp all-round display, linking up nicely with Mata and setting up Torres’ second.

Fernando Torres: 8
Led the line really well and scored two goals to end his barren run. To state the obvious though, he now needs to prove he can deliver against better opposition.

Ryan Bertrand: 6
Solid after replacing Cole for the final half an hour.

Oscar: 7
A great 25-minute cameo after coming on, capped by his fifth Champions League goal of the season.
