Chelsea v Juve player ratings
Oscar stole the show on his first start for Chelsea and there is surely much more to come from the brilliant Brazilian. Here’s how we rated the players in the Blues’ 2-2 draw with Juventus.
Petr Cech: 6
Had little to do and could not be blamed for either Juventus goal.
Branislav Ivanovic: 5
Well short of his best. Offered little going forward and at times was unusually indecisive at the back.
David Luiz: 7
Sloppy on occasions but otherwise did well against Juve’s dangerous strikeforce.
John Terry: 6
Solid until switching off for the equaliser, which might have been prevented had Chelsea’s skipper reacted quicker.
Ashley Cole: 7
Got forward effectively and was solid at the other end even without the extra cover offered by Ryan Bertrand, who started on the bench.
John Obi Mikel: 5
His mistake in the build-up to the equaliser will do nothing to win over his doubters. Worked hard and was often left with lots of ground to cover, but his attempted pass to Eden Hazard proved to be his team’s undoing.
Frank Lampard: 7
Impressive with the ball, especially when Chelsea were on top.
Ramires: 5
Not been at his best in recent games and was below par again. Missed a good chance in the first half.
Eden Hazard: 6
Caused Juve’s defence problems at times but drifted in and out of the game.
Oscar: 8
His wonderful goal was simply world class – reminiscent of Gianfranco Zola in his pomp. Tore Juve to shreds during a 15-minute spell in the first half and was classy throughout. It would be a terrible shame if the ankle injury he picked up causes him to spend time on the sidelines after such a promising full debut.
Fernando Torres: 6
Showed glimpses of quality but faced a thankless task operating as a lone striker against a rugged back line. Has revelled in his status as Chelsea’s first-choice forward following Didier Drogba’s departure, but the Ivorian would definitely have been more at home in this game.
Ryan Bertrand: 6
Brought on to give Chelsea more solidity as they sought to protect their lead, only for Mikel’s error to prove costly.
Juan Mata: 5
Missed a good chance to make it 3-1 and Chelsea were punished.

Not convincing.Am a Chelsea fan and we are awful at the back.We were so good defending last year but I cant understand what is happening now.Mikel turns out to be a liabilty.You forgive once,twice,thrice but everyday is irritating and costs us a fortune.We won against stoke but we are not convincing and so far its only Arsenal who is showing great signs of improvement but City and United are like us.West Brom and Everton welldone.Hopefully we gonna win against Arsenal.InshAllah.

Vince yout clearly not a Chelsea fan; your ideas are an exxageration. Hazard has been playing well in all his games. Today he provided for oscars first and was involved in a lot of good things throughout the game. DiMatteo may not be delivering to the super high level people are wishful off, but we are good. We have been making blunders tht cost us, but thts normal of teams at the start of the season. Otherwise a fair assesment of the juventus game would say we bossed the game and a draw was less than we deserved.

What had Mikel got to do wit d so called his error? Despite Hazard missed his pass,but d missed link not directly led to d said goal as d ball strolled back almost to d midline of d b4 Juve reset their way in. Where’s JT & d Out of positioned LUIZ to intercept d goal? @ Vince, Kindly sent for a pair of glasses to study game v.well dan shifting every blame on black color(MIKEL). Let d coach rest him,then all U(haters) will got to praise & value is role as a great player.

Too many dead beats at Chelsea. John T responsible for both goals. Obi Mikel should take a different line of work.Definitely not Football. Lampard shouldn’t have to play the full 90. he’ll be much better coming in at halftime. Mata always looks tired easily pushed off. What’s the matter with the big new star. anytime I see him ,it’s not his day (hazard)? is it a Chelsea thing? Anytime they bring in some star he always drop down to their mediocre level rather than lift them. The coach got to go. I know,he won the cup but how many people expect him to get this team to play decent football? under him, Chelsea once powerful defense is but a shadow of itself.
