Chelsea to battle with AC Milan to sign Swiss full-back – report

Chelsea will battle with AC Milan for the signing of Switzerland defender Ricardo Rodriguez, The Sun claim.

Wolfsburg left-back Rodriguez, 21, is one of several young players to have been touted as a possible long-term replacement for Ashley Cole.

He has been tipped to leave Germany, although the player’s Italy-based representative, Gianluca Di Domenico, has suggested that a January transfer is unlikely.

Di Domenico is quoted as saying: “He will not move in January because Wolfsburg do not want to sell as they absolutely want to get into the Champions League.

“Maybe after the World Cup in June but it will not be easy for Milan as many clubs are interested.”

The Sun also report that Fulham have delayed contract talks with Aaron Hughes and Philippe Senderos.

Hughes, 34, appears to be keen to stay but it is claimed that Senderos, 28, is attracting interest from other clubs.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror report that Fulham have played down speculation linking Bryan Ruiz with a move from Craven Cottage.
