Chelsea have been poor but we think they’ll see off Everton

Chelsea return to action after the international break with a point to prove after a home defeat against Crystal Palace last time out.

The loss was only boss Jose Mourinho’s second of a century of home league games and he will have the squad primed to bounce back at Everton on Saturday.

The corresponding fixture last season was one of the most entertaining 90 minutes of football all season and Chelsea’s ruthless streak in front of goal set the tone for the rest of the campaign.

They won 6-3 at Goodison Park that day and are 500/1 to do so again on Saturday with BetVictor.

The visitors should come out on top and are the even-money favourites to win. Everton are 16/5 and the draw is 5/2.

Everton have won just one of their last six league matches against Chelsea but do boast a better record on home soil, notwithstanding last season’s defeat, losing just two of their last seven encounters.

An uncharacteristically poor start by Chelsea’s defence has seen them eased to 5/1 with BetVictor to successfully defend their Premier League crown having shipped two or more goals in four consecutive games for the first time in nine years.

Blues playmaker Eden Hazard halted Wales’ celebration party in midweek by netting a late winner for Belgium in Cyprus. He is 7/4 with BetVictor to net 13 or more league goals this term and, despite failing to score in his previous seven, can bounce back to form on Merseyside.

Diego Costa put Chelsea ahead 35 seconds into last seasons’ 6-3 success and heads the market as the 17/4 favourite to score the first goal this weekend.

The striker should prove a constant threat to an Everton defence seeking a third clean sheet in their last four games, while Hazard is 6/1 to open the scoring, 2/1 to net anytime during the 90 minutes and 6/1 to score from the penalty spot.

Chelsea to win with both teams scoring is 3/1, a 2-1 victory for the visitors is 8/1 and a 3-1 win is 18/1.
