Chelsea boss Mourinho is determined to keep midfielder – report
Chelsea have told Valencia they are not interested in selling Oriol Romeu, the Daily Express report.
Romeu has impressed while on loan at the Spanish club and it is claimed that Valencia are already looking to sign him on a permanent basis but have been told the Blues are unwilling to let him go.
Boss Jose Mourinho apparently sees Romeu as playing an important role in the Chelsea midfield next season.
Several of today’s newspapers, including the Daily Telegraph, report comments by Arsene Wenger.
The Arsenal manager is in favour of changes to the loan rules that would mean, for example, that Romelu Lukaku would be permitted to play for Everton against Chelsea.
Speaking at an Arsenal Teenage Cancer Trust charity event, Wenger said: “The loan system has existed for a while. I’m not against it, I just think players should be allowed to play against the team who loans them out. I pleaded for that.
“If you sign for a club and commit to them for a year you should be available to play for them in every single game, with no exceptions.”
Meanwhile, the Daily Star say new Fulham boss Rene Meulensteen will not stand in Dimitar Berbatov’s way if the striker chooses to leave Craven Cottage in January.
