Chelsea are vying with Manchester United for the £80m signing of Cristiano Ronaldo, according to the Daily Mail.
Ronaldo, who remains a huge crowd favourite at Old Trafford, has been tipped to return to United this summer.
But it is claimed that Chelsea are also looking to sign the Portugal star from Real Madrid.
The Blues are also said to be interested in United’s Wayne Rooney, who would apparently prefer to move to Stamford Bridge rather than go abroad.
Jose Mourinho, widely tipped to return to Chelsea from Real, is reported to be keen on Rooney and Napoli striker Edinson Cavani.
The Mail also report that interim manager Rafael Benitez will get £250,000 bonus if Chelsea finish third in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Metro pick up on comments attributed to Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao, who has sought to play down speculation linking him with a big-money move to Chelsea.
“I don’t know anything, and the only thing that I have in my mind to keep concentrating on is Atletico Madrid,” Falcao is quoted as saying.
“I keep myself apart of what is being discussed. If it was up to the press, I would have already been transferred to Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester United.
“I don’t find any news that is being said about me to be true, and the only real thing is that I am under contract until 2016. All the rest is only speculation.”
