Chelsea and Spurs will battle to sign Diawara, Sun say

The Sun claim Chelsea will battle with Tottenham to sign Napoli’s teenage midfielder Amadou Diawara.

Blues boss Antonio Conte is said to be an admirer of the player and keen to sign him when the transfer window reopens in January.

Spurs, despite having several midfield options, are also apparently interested in the 19-year-old, who was linked with a move to White Hart Lane during the summer.

Meanwhile, the Guardian say Chelsea will offer Frank Lampard a role back at Stamford Bridge if he decides to retire from playing following his announcement he is leaving New York City FC.

Lampard, Chelsea’s record goalscorer, will reportedly be offered ambassadorial role or a position on the coaching staff depending on what he would like to do next.

And the Express continue to link Chelsea with Valencia right-back Joao Cancelo.

The newspaper has picked up on reports in Spain suggesting that Barcelona are also interested in the Portugal international.
