Chelsea could use the uncertainty at Southampton to clinch the signing of Luke Shaw, it has been claimed.
Nicola Cortese left his job as Saints chairman yesterday and there has been speculation that manager Mauricio Pochettino could also depart.
The Daily Express say Chelsea hope to take advantage and are offering £15m plus Ryan Bertrand in an attempt to take highly-rated left-back Shaw to Stamford Bridge.
Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City are also said to be monitoring the situation at St Mary’s.
The Sun suggest that Shaw could be sold along with other key Southampton players.
An ‘insider’ is quoted as saying: “There’s a real danger half the team could be transferred out by the end of the month.”
The Sun say former Chelsea interim boss Rafael Benitez looked into the possibility of signing John Mikel Obi for Napoli before targeting the Nigerian’s Blues team-mate Michael Essien.
Once again it is claimed that midfielder Essien is also wanted by AC Milan.
