Chairman Fernandes gives transfer warning as QPR stutter

Chairman Tony Fernandes told QPR fans not to expect another glut of signings following the 0-0 draw at Watford – Rangers’ third match without a win.

Fernandes is facing calls to spend big again after the team slipped to fourth in the Championship.

But he claims the club do not plan to make major changes during the January transfer window.

He tweeted: “I’ll take the point. Transfer window open soon. We know what we have to do. Lots of games. Good start to the season. Chapter 1 closed.

“We got a great squad. Dominated play today. We don’t need to do much business. Maybe one player. Just for the record.

“22 games. Lots of points there. Ps look at the other relegated sides. Rather be in our position. We ain’t hit top form yet. Lots to come.”

R’s midfielder Gary O’Neil tweeted: “Disappointing not to win! Good to get back to a clean sheet tho. On to the next one!”

  • After two pathetic performances against Leicester and Forest, we seemed to have some intention at Watford. We must press further up field - chase back - work harder for the ball. I see no need to strengthen the squad - more the attitude - but we desperately need a recognized striker to help Austin.
