Blues looking to capture Newcastle midfielder – report
Chelsea are eyeing up a move for Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote in January, the Daily Express say.
It is claimed the Blues see him as a potential replacement for Oriol Romeu, who is injured, and John Obi Mikel, who will be unavailable next month as he is set to play for Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Daily Mail say Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich plans to offer Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao £200,000 a week in order to lure him to Stamford Bridge.
That would apparently make Falcao the highest earner at the club, eclipsing the wages of Fernando Torres.
The Daily Mirror have a similar story, saying Chelsea will offer £48m for the Colombian and are hopeful of signing him despite interest from Manchester City.
The Mirror report that Frank Lampard expects to leave Chelsea as no contract talks are scheduled to take place, as do the Mail, who suggest he could snub interest from overseas and remain in the Premier League.
And Chelsea are again linked with a move for Arsenal’s Theo Walcott, today by The Sun.
