We were staggered to receive a flood of money on Brighton boss Gus Poyet to be the next manager of Chelsea.
He is now the 2/1 favourite at BetVictor to take over from Rafa Benitez, irrespective of the timescale, with Jose Mourinho 4s, David Moyes and Jurgen Klopp 12/1 and Gianfranco Zola 14s.
I would be amazed if the former Chelsea midfielder was the next man through Stamford Bridge’s revolving doors and the 12/1 for Moyes is an insult to the job he has done at Goodison Park.
Money is no object to the Chelsea owner but there would be no compensation required given he is out of contract at Everton in the summer. All prices can be viewed by clicking here
Chelsea travel to St James’ Park on Saturday and such is their recent luck that you couldn’t play Newcastle at a worse time given they have spent extensively in the January window and both players and the Geordie faithful will have been buoyed by the midweek win at Villa Park.
Chelsea are a shade of odds-on at 37/40 for all three points with the Magpies 31/10 and the draw at 13/5.
It will be fascinating to see if Demba Ba is restored to the starting line-up against his old club and he is 5/1 to grab the opener with Fernando Torres 11/2
The Blues are out to 40/1 for the title after their latest 2-2 draw where they once again snatched a draw from the jaws of victory having lost a 2-0 lead for the second time in January.
Chelsea remain 1/12 to finish in the top four and 2/7 to be top London club (Spurs and Arsenal both 5s) but it has been a very disappointing season for the current champions of Europe and perhaps all their luck was used up in that improbable success.
Fulham entertain Manchester United, who are 13/20 for the win with Fulham 9/2 and the draw at 16/5.
At the time of writing QPR continue to spend money as if it was going out of fashion. You have to be concerned for the long-term prospects of the club when they are paying extraordinary wages to ordinary players.
They face their next cup final against Norwich in the early Saturday kick-off and are 20/21 to pick up all three points.
Norwich have only won one of their last 14 league games and kept one clean sheet in their last 45 away games in the top flight.
Loftus Road will be buzzing and I really believe the Hoops need all three points if they are to stay up.
Rangers are 1/2 to be playing Championship football next term and 6/4 to avoid the drop. They only have one home win this season and it’s about time they doubled that tally.
