Bees v Birmingham player ratings

Moses Odubajo’s equaliser rescued a thoroughly deserved point for 10-man Brentford against Birmingham. Here’s how we rated the players in the 1-1 draw at Griffin Park.

David Button: 7
Played well and produced a quite brilliant reflex save in the first half to keep the Bees in it.

Alan McCormack: 7
Solid defensively and always quick to get forward, even when the Bees were down to 10 men. Saved the day with a terrific header clear in the second half.

James Tarkowski: 5
Has looked shaky at times so far this season and endured a difficult first half in which he gave the ball away on a number of occasions, and he later almost sliced a low cross into his own net.

Harlee Dean: 6
Had a decent game after coming on as a substitute following the dismissal of Tony Craig.

Jake Bidwell: 5
A difficult afternoon for the left-back. Birmingham had plenty of joy on his side, even before the sending-off, with David Cotterill seeing lots of the ball and able to find time and space almost at will. Bidwell did well going forward in the second half though and was unlucky not to win a penalty.

Jonathan Douglas: 8
Once again did an excellent job in front of the back four. Strong in the challenge and composed on the ball.

Jota: 6
Unfortunate to have his full debut cut short when he was taken off because the Bees needed to replace Craig at the heart of the defence. Looked lively for the 17 minutes he was on and has obvious ability.

Alan Judge: 7
Cleverly picked up space in the second half and almost set up a goal for Andre Gray. Did well in midfield.

Alex Pritchard: 7
Mixed quality with determination and became more influential as the game wore on.

Tommy Smith: 7
Dispossessed on a few occasions but showed moments of pure class before being substituted. His touch and link-up play could be crucial for Brentford this season.

Andre Gray: 8
Hit-and-miss at times but has pace, power and huge potential. Always busy and exciting to watch and can lead the line as well as drop deep. Dangerous with the ball and hardworking without it, he never let the Birmingham defence relax.

Stuart Dallas: 8
Played a key role after coming on at half-time, continuing his fine start to the season. Caused Birmingham problems in a right-of-centre position the visitors struggled to contain him in.

Moses Odubajo: 7
His speed and directness had Birmingham worried from the moment he came on and he took his goal well, atoning for a heavy touch by keeping his composure and lifting the ball over the keeper.

Man of the match: Gray
