Chelsea are European champions after their heroic display in the Champions League final. Here’s how we rated the players on an amazing night in Munich…
Petr Cech: 8
Might have done better for Bayern’s goal but more than made up for that with his two penalty saves.
Jose Bosingwa: 6
Exposed at times but didn’t disgrace himself and deserves some credit for his recent performances.
Gary Cahill: 8
Terrific performance at the back, especially given his recent absence with a hamstring problem.
David Luiz: 8
Like Cahill, did unbelievably well to get through 120 minutes having been out with a hamstring injury. Composed and determined throughout.
Ashley Cole: 9
A simply brilliant display from a player who has underlined in this season’s Champions League that he is a truly world-class left-back. Immense, especially when tucking inside to offer vital cover through the middle.
John Obi Mikel: 9
Has plenty of doubters, but not even his harshest critic could deny he was brilliant. Surely his best performance for Chelsea by some distance.
Frank Lampard: 8
Quieter than against Barcelona, but always solid and sensible on the ball when Chelsea were in danger of being overrun.
Ryan Bertrand: 7
Was given a crucial job and did it well, vindicating Roberto Di Matteo’s surprise decision to select him.
Salomon Kalou: 7
Worked hard defensively and got into some decent positions further forward.
Juan Mata: 7
Not at his best, but his movement occupied Bayern’s defenders and he delivered a great corner for Didier Drogba’s goal.
Didier Drogba: 9
His conceding of a penalty pales into insignificance compared to his overall contribution. As well as his all-important equaliser and winning penalty he was a handful as always. Could it really have been his last appearance for the club?
Florent Malouda: 6
Less efficient than Bertrand, who he came on for in the second half.
Fernando Torres: 7
Did well after coming on and worried a Bayern defence that had looked relatively comfortable.
