Barton mocks Spurs over Redknapp following thrashing by Liverpool
Tottenham’s 5-0 defeat at home to Liverpool prompted Joey Barton to mock the north London club’s decision to get rid of Harry Redknapp.
Andre-Villas Boas, who replaced Redknapp as Spurs boss in 2012, is under serious pressure following the thrashing at the hands of Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Redknapp’s QPR team are currently top of the Championship and R’s midfielder Barton tweeted: “Spurs must be devastated the got rid of ‘Arry. They were a much better side. Too late now. You can’t have him back. He’s ours.”
And Benoit Assou-Ekotto, on loan at QPR from Spurs, appeared to savour his parent club’s humiliating loss.
The left-back posed for a picture with Emmanuel Adebayor, who has also been frozen out by Villas-Boas, and tweeted: “What a game tonight….happy to see my man @E_Adebayor (LOL)”
Meanwhile, QPR chairman Tony Fernandes took to Twitter to insist the club would listen to fans’ concerns over plans for a 40,000-capacity stadium at Old Oak.
Fernandes tweeted: “Feedback on stadium has been very good. Please note QPR fans we are a club who will consult and listen. This is your home.
“Feedback so far. Maybe a smaller arena 30 or 35. 40 maybe to big straight away. Will look at modular. Keep feeling of Loftus. For sure.”
