Agent’s comments lead to ‘insulted’ Terry being linked with move

Comments made by an agent have led to Chelsea skipper John Terry being linked with a January move to Valencia.

A number of UK newspapers have picked up on the Fifa-accredited Francois Gallardo’s claim that he is involved in a deal to take Terry to the Spanish club on an 18-month contract with the option of an additional year.

He also suggested Terry, recently banned for four matches for racially abusing QPR’s Anton Ferdinand, is unhappy and wants to move.

Gallardo told Spanish radio station Intereconomia: “Valencia are negotiating, and I am involved in person, with the signing in the winter transfer market.

“The offer is on his table. The player is out of contract in June (Terry’s contract expires in 2014) and will not renew there for several reasons at Chelsea and he wants to come to Spain.”

He added: “Terry has problems. They are insulting him and he is not taking it anymore. He asked to leave, not us.

“It’s real. This has been going on for 15 days and two meetings have already taken place.

“The deal is already on his table – a year-and-a-half plus one. I think he will accept.”
