QPR fans react on Twitter to Austin’s display in the defeat at Charlton
Charlie Austin’s display in QPR’s 2-0 defeat at Charlton on Saturday sparked a mixed response from Rangers fans on Twitter.
Most agreed the striker, apparently coveted by several Premier League clubs, struggled to make an impact on the game.
However, while some blamed the team’s system for leaving him isolated up front, others accused him of having his mind elsewhere – and some felt he should be sold as soon as possible.
And Charlie Austin already looked like he’s playing in a Spurs/Newcastle/West Ham shirt… #QPR

Everyone defending Austin yes he did well the last two seasons but his display today was of a player who is waiting to leave #didntcare #QPR

Charlie Austin was poor, v poor. Looked like he didn’t care, if I was #qpr I’d want to sell and get 2 good championship strikers for same £

If Austin wants to leave there is no point putting him in the team, let him go and move on #QPR cannot afford to have anyone who isn’t 100%

If Austin is going let’s not play him, and prepare for the season ahead by using Polter up front. #QPR

However, others felt Austin’s goal-laden spell at Rangers means he should have some credit in the bank with supporters – and there were many who were disappointed at boos heard when Austin was substituted late on.
Imagine booing a player who has basically single handedly carried us the last two seasons. #QPR

Booing Charlie Austin was poor from the fans today. He didn’t have a great game but let’s not forget the last 2 seasons! #QPR ⚪️🔵⚪️🔵

Charlie was clearly not fit, but he has done more than any player
in our squad for the last 2 years. Lets give him a break.
Think Ramsay’s decision making needs looking, more than blaming
Charlie who really should not have played after only 1 game all summer….
