Chelsea are through to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup after beating Wolves. Here’s how we rated each Blues player in the 2-0 win at Molineux.
After an early scare when former Chelsea youngster George Saville slammed a shot against his post, he was forced into several nervy punched clearances as Wolves rampaged during a difficult start for the Blues.
His aerial strength and physicality were needed as Wolves kept the crosses coming. Got up to head wide from a corner in the dying moments.
His dependable organisation, cup experience and anticipation of danger played a big part in the clean sheet. Never looked exposed or overly flustered.
Made to work hard by the effervescent Helder Costa on Chelsea’s left flank, but grew stronger as the game wore on, even venturing forward.
Another classy display. A beautiful flighted chip to Willian almost led to an opener from the Brazilian and his probing passes offered the greatest threat throughout. Almost scored in a late breakaway.
Guilty of some misplaced passes, and has had better days, but kept at it and will be grateful to have another 90-minute outing under his belt.
Might have done better after getting goal-side of the last defender after another astute cross-field ball from Fabregas. A willing outlet, and always available, but the final ball was often missing.
Never stopped buzzing for the Blues and did most to lift the side during a troubled first half. It was his cross which enabled Pedro to head home the 65th-minute opener.
Ghosted in to head home Willian’s cross for the vital first goal, but it was not an easy evening for him at left wing-back and he didn’t look that comfortable. Booked for trip on the dangerous Costa.
Looked curiously subdued for the most part, and took a while to get involved. But played a part in the goal which set Chelsea on their way to the quarter-finals.
Hit a close-range volley over the bar towards the end of the first half and worked a chance for himself that he hit into the side-netting before rifling in the second after a penalty area scramble.
