Chelsea secure quarter-final place

Wolves 0 Chelsea 2

Goals from Pedro and Diego Costa took Chelsea into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

Pedro finished off a crisp Blues move with a far-post header from Willian’s cross on 64 minutes.

And when a ricochet in the box resulted in the ball dropping to Costa, the striker fired into the bottom corner.

Costa’s goal, scored with two minutes remaining, was his 16th of the season and his first in five matches.

Championship side Wolves caused the Premier League leaders plenty of problems and former Chelsea youngster George Saville missed a great chance to give them an early lead.

Chelsea failed to deal with a cross from the right and the ball dropped to Saville with just keeper Asmir Begovic to beat, but the midfielder fired against the post.

Chelsea were not at their best but always looked dangerous on the counter-attack and Pedro’s goal, which came after a lovely build-up involving Cesc Fabregas, Costa, Eden Hazard and then Willian, was a moment of pure class.

Fabregas, outstanding in midfield, missed a good chance to double their lead.

And Kurt Zouma, who was partnered at centre-back by Blues skipper John Terry, headed narrowly over shortly before Costa sealed the win.

Chelsea: Begovic; Zouma, Terry, Ake; Moses, Chalobah, Fabregas, Pedro (Azpilicueta 72); Willian (Kante 80), Costa, Hazard (Loftus-Cheek 85).
Subs not used: Eduardo, Cahill, Kenedy, Batshuayi.
