Antonio Rudiger trained with the rest of the Chelsea squad on Monday and could return to action in Tuesday’s all-important Champions League game against Lille.
Rudiger has made just one first-team appearance this season, having struggled with a knee problem and then a pelvic injury.
The German defender has been building up his fitness and boss Frank Lampard said on Monday that Rudiger “has chance” of playing against Lille.
But Fikayo Tomori and Olivier Giroud did not take part in training and both players are unavailable to play.
“Tomori has a small, tiny strain around the hip area, so we’ve taken him out for a few days,” Lampard said.
A win in their final group game would seal Chelsea’s place in the knockout stage.
They would also go through if they draw and Valencia lose away to Ajax.
