New injury concerns for Chelsea after Roma draw
Chelsea are assessing David Luiz and Tiémoué Bakayoko after both players picked up injuries against Roma.
Luiz sustained a calf injury during the first half of the Champions League clash at Stamford Bridge, where the Blues drew 3-3 to maintain their place at the top of Group C.
Bakayoko completed the 90 minutes but was struggling with a groin problem.
Luiz, who scored a brilliant opening goal, appeared to be angry about boss Antonio Conte’s decision to take him off in the second half.
But Conte later explained: “It was good to protect him. After the first half the doctor said David had a pain in his calf and the same for Bakayoko with his groin.”
It adds to Chelsea’s injury worries ahead of Saturday’s Premier League game at home to Watford.
Conte’s options have already been limited by injuries to Victor Moses, Danny Drinkwater and key midfielder N’Golo Kante.
