Tuchel hoping Werner speculation ‘disappears soon’
Thomas Tuchel says he hopes speculation over Timo Werner’s future “disappears soon” – and insists his fellow German has no reason to be unhappy at Chelsea.
It follows reports that Werner has become frustrated at Stamford Bridge during a difficult first season in English football.
There have been reports that Chelsea are considering offering Werner to Borussia Dortmund as part of a proposed exchange deal involving Erling Haaland.
But Blues boss Tuchel said: “He has no reason now to be frustrated.
“He had an amazing match against Liverpool – maybe his best match since I arrived – and then a good match against Everton, with a lot of chances to score.
“There is simply no time to reflect on what is going to be in the summer or next year.
“Maybe all the stuff you read will hopefully disappear soon.”
Speaking at a press conference on the eve of his side’s Champions League game against Atletico Madrid, Tuchel was also asked about defenders Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger and Thiago Silva.
Veteran centre-back Silva has a one-year contract with the option of a further year, while Chelsea are keen for Rudiger and Christensen to sign new deals.
But Tuchel said: “This is maybe the worst moment to talk about it; one day before a big match – an important match.
“Of course we know – everybody knows – about the situation of those three players. All three players perform on a super-high level, very reliable, and this is the most important thing.
“We’ll take the decisions and then communicate them when they are taken. This is not a secret and it’s obvious that all three have been outstanding.
“Andreas and Toni have done a fantastic job and we have to keep on going like this and the rest will be resolved.”
