Kante and Havertz faces fitness tests
N’Golo Kante and Kai Havertz face tests ahead of Chelsea’s game at Aston Villa but look likely to be available for the Champions League final.
Speaking ahead of his team’s final domestic game of the season, Blues boss Thomas Tuchel said Andreas Christensen is back in the squad and that Kante and Havertz would be assessed on Saturday.
Crucially, though, both Kante and Havertz are expected to train next week even if the Villa game comes too soon for them, meaning they are on course to be fit for the European showdown with Manchester City.
Havertz sat out Tuesday’s vital win against Leicester at Stamford Bridge, where Kante went off during the first half after feeling discomfort in his hamstring.
Christensen, meanwhile, has recovered from a tendon injury.
“Andreas Christensen will be in the squad. He did full training today and also yesterday without any problems, so he will be back,” said Tuchel.
“Kai did a test today and will be tested in training tomorrow.
“With N’Golo it’s going to be very close (for the Villa game). There are some hopes that he maybe joins in training tomorrow. If not, he will join on Monday.”
