Kante’s absence was ‘nothing to be afraid of’ – Tuchel

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel insists the decision to rest N’Golo Kante for the midweek Premier League defeat against Arsenal is “nothing to be afraid of”.

The Frenchman has been back to his best form in recent weeks after a lengthy run in the side.

But Kante’s past two seasons have been badly affected by a number of injuries and Tuchel has talked of the need to limit the midfielder’s workload.

The German said Kante is fit to start against Leicester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday.

“We took the decision together to leave him out against Arsenal and give him treatment,” Tuchel said.

“It is nothing to be afraid of. He trained yesterday and today full, no complaints. He will start tomorrow and hopefully finish the game.”

Tuchel also confirmed that Mateo Kovacic and Andreas Christensen have been passed fit for the final.
