Tuchel: Chelsea are prepared for penalties
Thomas Tuchel says Chelsea have been practising penalties and know who their five spot-kick takers might be if the Champions League final goes to a shoot-out.
Chelsea face Manchester City in Porto tonight and Blues boss Tuchel says nothing has been left to chance.
He explained: “We have already identified the guys who should take the penalties for us if it goes to a shoot-out.
“Whoever takes the penalties, we will go into the shoot-out together, as a team, whatever happens.
“We always practise penalties when we face a match that could be decided by penalties.
“We can’t replicate the pressure and occasion of a shoot-out in a big final, but we can take care of knowing the patterns and practising our habits.”
Tuchel has also confirmed that N’Golo Kante and keeper Edouard Mendy are fit to play.
Mendy took a knock to the ribs at Aston Villa, where Kante missed Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat because he was nursing a hamstring issue.
