Andre Villas-Boas will give John Terry every chance to prove his fitness ahead of the Champions League clash with Napoli.
The Blues skipper has missed his team’s last four matches because of a knee problem and on Saturday was declared doubtful for this week’s crucial game.
Under-pressure manager Villas-Boas, who is reported to be planning to take a gamble and select Terry in Naples, will delay naming his line-up until the defender’s condition is assessed.
“I will leave it as late as possible and make a decision on him after the training of the team in Naples,” said Villas-Boas.
“We will try to give him a late fitness test to give him every chance. We respect his importance to the team.
“If he misses out on Tuesday, then we will miss a top player and a player who gives us defensive stability. It would be a massive loss for us, that’s for sure.”
