Chelsea’s woes have increased with news that skipper John Terry is set to miss next week’s crucial Champions League match against Napoli.
Terry recently resumed training after a knee problem and was expected to play in Naples after missing Saturday’s FA Cup tie against Birmingham.
But although the defender will travel with the squad to Italy, he now looks extremely unlikely to feature in the game.
His absence will not help under-pressure manager Andre Villas-Boas, who was again barracked by some supporters after his team’s 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.
“We were not good enough. We took too long to score an equaliser,” Villas-Boas admitted.
“We were better in the second half but not enough to win the game. It’s not satisfying when you draw at home to a Championship team.”
