Chelsea 6 QPR 1
Fernando Torres netted a hat-trick and John Terry also scored as QPR were subjected to a derby thrashing at Stamford Bridge.
Rangers’ dismal defending was a gift to Torres, who got two of four Chelsea goals in a blistering opening 24 minutes.
And Terry’s goal was a glorious moment for him given the furore surrounding the Blues skipper after his midweek sending-off against Barcelona and the fact he was coming face-to-face with Anton Ferdinand.
But it was Daniel Sturridge who set the home side on their way, putting them ahead with a thunderbolt into the top corner after only 48 seconds.
Rangers, totally lacking in spirit, caved in as Roberto Di Matteo’s men strolled to a victory which boosted their chances of a top-four finish.
Terry, accused of racially abusing Ferdinand when these teams met at Loftus Road in October, doubled the lead when he rose above Clint Hill to head in Juan Mata’s corner.
Torres then collected Salomon Kalou’s pass and rounded keeper Paddy Kenny to make it three.
Rangers were a mess at the back and this was underlined by the fourth goal, which came when Kenny was unable to hold Nedum Onuoha’s poor back-header and Torres was on hand to tap in.
Chelsea eased up in the second half but were still able to add two more – condemning QPR to a second six-goal mauling in a west London derby this season.
It also means Rangers, thumped 6-0 at Fulham in October, no longer have the security of a much superior goal difference to relegation rivals Bolton.
Torres completed his hat-trick by slotting past Kenny after being set up by Mata, before Ferdinand’s attempted clearance hit Ramires and fell to Florent Malouda, who fired in the sixth.
Onouha crossed for Djibril Cisse to score a late consolation for the R’s.
