Paul Clement has confirmed he plans to speak to John Terry about a potential move to Swansea.
Terry, 36, is preparing to leave Chelsea at the end of the season and is sure to receive a hero’s send-off from the home crowd when the newly-crowned champions play their final league game of the campaign, against Sunderland, this weekend.
A number of clubs are interested in signing the former England captain, who suggested earlier this week that he might retire rather than move elsewhere.
Swansea boss Clement, who knows Terry well, having previously been on the coaching staff at Chelsea, was asked at a press conference on Thursday whether he would look to sign him.
“I’m going to get this season done, and he’s obviously got a lot on himself,” Clement said.
“There’s a big game for him coming up at Stamford Bridge, the last game of season, and I’m sure he’s going to get a wonderful send-off.
“I don’t know what his thinking is, whether he’s going to carry on first of all – there’s been talk in the media that it’s going to be his last game.
“Whether he’ll go on here in the Premier League or abroad, that’s all unsure at the moment.”
